Medieval city walls

The Shambles
A quaint cobbled street lined with shops, boutiques, tea rooms, tours and ghost walks, The Shambles is one of the UK’s most visited tourist attractions. York’s oldest street features Elizabethan buildings leaning so close that their roofs almost touch.

Clifford’s Tower
Clifford’s Tower is the principal remains of 13th century York Castle, perched on a mound overlooking River Ouse. Spiral staircases lead visitors to incredible views over York.
York Castle Museum
A hugely popular tourist attraction, York Castle Museum is a tribute to daily life in England through the ages. Based within 18th century prison buildings, the museum houses a complete recreated Victorian street.

National Railway Museum
The world’s largest railway museum is dedicated to preserving historically significant railway vehicles and memorabilia, including a huge collection of locomotives, rolling stock and railway equipment. Jorvik Viking Centre

Castle Howard
